Our mission
Hi-Res is building a culture of creative exchange by sharing the work, ideas, and voices of a wide range of artists. Our books and publications provide a platform for multidisciplinary artists and creatives and our goal is to increase representation by making publishing more accessible.
Hi-Res is looking for production design interns to help us produce our growing catalog of artist books. You’ll work alongside the Hi-Res creative director and editorial team as well as the featured artists to move book projects from concept to final delivery. Our goal is to provide you with meaningful real-world experience, professional mentorship, and opportunities to build your portfolio.
Responsibilities may include:
Conduct visual research for current and upcoming projects
Design page layouts and covers in collaboration with the creative director
Organize and prepare design files for print production
We’re looking for people who:
Have a passion for print design, art, and visual narrative
Are organized, dependable, and eager to learn
Work well independently and collaboratively
Have experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically InDesign
Have strong communication and organizational skills
Bring a positive attitude
Process and commitment
We’re accepting applications for interns on a rolling basis. Selected interns will be assigned to a book project and given a production schedule with milestones and due dates.
Although each book project might vary in terms of time commitment and complexity, you can expect a minimum of 30 hours of design work per project, which will be spread out over the course of 4-6 weeks. Most of your work will take place remotely with 1-2 in-person meetings with our editorial team at our Logan Heights studio.
